Where Does It Come From? is committed to working with businesses and organisations to change the way they source clothing and textiles. We are showcased by COP26 as part of the NatWest Climate Accelerator, focusing on supply chains that benefit people and planet.
Focusing on Climate - IPCC Report
In August 2021 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change published a report which finally stated that humanity is the cause of the climate emergency. This was described as a ‘code red for humanity’ and re-iterated the need to rapidly reduce the production of green house gases in order to keep our planet’s temperature rise since the industrial revolution to below 1.5 degrees.
Where Does It Come From? projects focus on areas outlined in the report in the following ways:
- Focusing on organic and indigenous fibre production – building soil health, lower water and pesticide usage and ecological farming processes
- Working in partnership with co-operatives and social enterprises focusing on rural and marginalised communities means we are supporting livelihoods and skills that protect the local environment.
